sketchy sketches

Here are some sketches from my sketchbook. threw clothes on them just so they weren't completely naked. This is just a collection of some sketches that I have done over the past couple of weeks.

The next ones I was just working on grace and shape, nothing too fancy... these are part of the first few drawings that I have done. These are the ones that I am least embarrassed about :)

New purchases for "inspiration"

Recently, I was in Madison for the MS walk, it was also Free Comic Book Day, so we went to Westfield Comics and scored some free comics. I also found this book:
I love the artwork in it, I never owned or read a graphic novel so it should be interesting.

I also bought two drawing books on drapery and a book on facial expressions. I am having a hard time putting clothes on any of my figure drawings so I figured I should get something.

When Dustin and I were looking around at The Source Comics in St Paul, I found a new artist that I was interested in name Yasushi Susuki. I really liked his style and watercolors so I also bought one of his books too called "Goth's Cage".

I love amazon.com, its nice finally having money to purchase more books!

Welcome!

This is my first blog entry. I decided to create this to keep track of my work and my progress of my art. I pretty much have taken a 2 year break from doing any intense drawing because of my health. I mostly have done things for my sister's Chiropractic business, painting a dresser and participated in Eau Claire's 2009 Chalk Fest where i had help from my parents, sister and my boyfriend. I even won "Honorable Mention". Since being diagnosed with MS in 2006, its been a struggle for me to maintain my drawing ability and have the energy to do much of anything. I dedicated what I could to my last few semesters of being in MATC's Animation program before leaving the program and moving back home with my parents to focus on my health.

Its been hard to get back in the swing of having the passion that I have always had for creating things. When I living in Madison I was either in school, working professionally doing graphic design, modeling for artists and drawing classes or hanging out with friends at Barnes and Noble for our "Sketch Nights". I was always constantly surrounded by art and creative people.

Now that I am living with my boyfriend Dustin (who is also an artist), things are settling down for me and I feel like I can focus again and regain my strength. I'm trying to take my time and focus on one thing at a time, it does feel almost like I am reteaching myself.

This blog isn't about trying to show off, or trying to get a job. Its about my baby steps towards feeling like an artist again. So bare with me! :)
